Authentic Banarasi saree weavers and shops — handloom silk, designs and contact.
1 listedThe Banarasi saree is the most famous craft of Varanasi — handwoven silk with intricate gold and silver zari brocade, traditionally made on handlooms in Madanpura, Lallapura and the city weaving clusters. Genuine Banarasi silk carries a Geographical Indication (GI) tag.
This section lists weavers and shops with their range, location and contact. Prices vary hugely with the silk, zari and weave, and powerloom or mixed pieces are sold alongside pure handloom — so buy from a trusted seller and ask for the Silk Mark or GI assurance.
Genuine handloom Banarasi silk is sold with a Silk Mark tag and the weave shows tiny irregularities of handwork; powerloom is perfectly uniform. Ask the seller directly and prefer a trusted weaver or the GI assurance.
Price depends on the silk quality, the amount and type of zari (real versus imitation), the weave (katan, georgette, organza) and whether it is handloom or powerloom. A pure handloom piece with real zari is the most expensive.
Trusted showrooms give reliability and billing; weaver clusters like Madanpura can offer better prices if you know what to look for. Either way, insist on a proper bill and the Silk Mark.
